I decided to become TEFL certified while riding through the mountains of Chiang Mai, Thailand. What drew me most to i-to-i TEFL were the website images of people like myself traveling and earning money as they undertook a life of adventure. I assumed it was a perfect fit for me. Turns out it wasn’t. Customer support was amazing right up until I’d paid for the course – it quickly went south from there. I felt completely lost, with no one available to guide me through the process. I dropped out after a week because I wasn’t learning anything from the course. They managed to deduct the second installment from me until I had my bank block them. I did realize my dream of travel and work, just not the dream I had in mind when I applied for that doomed TEFL course. Not all that glitters is gold. See a lot of people selling dreams these days.
