OISE University of Toronto TEFL review, submitted by John.
It’s a very good course if you want to receive a fully rounded overview of TEFL and I can understand why it does cost significantly more than other online TEFL courses in the same category. But while with other courses it seems you can study at your own pace, with UoT you need to wait what seems like an age to receive your module reflection journal feedback before being able to proceed to the next without having the benefit of viewing any further course materials. I thought the level of the feedback given could have been better too. It took over 4 weeks to receive my certificate and this contributed to my overall opinion that the course setup was severely lacking efficiency. This isn’t a $1,500 course. Should be offered for much less, but I understand that the affiliation with the University of Toronto bumps the course price further. Despite thy certification woes and repetitive style of course content, I’m giving the OISE TEFL course 4 stars. However, upon completion of the course, I found there was minimal job-finding assistance and for a course of a such perceived caliber I thought this simply wasn’t good enough. So overall, a 3-star review.
