tefl online pro review, submitted by Lauren W.

I enjoyed taking the 120-hour TEFL/TESOL course with TEFL Online Pro. Everything was straightforward to follow, and feedback on coursework assignments was very fast after I’d sent them in. By very fast, I mean just a few hours later. The same was true of replies to any emails or direct messages I sent to them. This quick turnaround of communication helped maintain the flow of the pace of study I was aiming to achieve. The content of the course was in-depth and at the same time easy to digest. The course covers many different areas of TEFL/TESOL, including teaching English to children and adults and teaching business English. There are also sections on how to teach English to physical and online students. Because of this, I would say the course is for people who want to teach at a school and for people who want to teach online.

I travel and teach English. I manage this lifestyle by teaching online. I could have gone overseas and stayed in one location but I just prefer being able to move around and earn money at the same time. TEFL Online Pro help you with your job search after the course. They don’t charge you anything for it and the help they gave me set me on the right path. It was important to get this support because it helped me avoid bad schools and apply for jobs at good ones. There are hundreds if not thousands, of online schools that you can teach for so you need some guidance when choosing which one(s) to apply for jobs.

I don’t have any bad comments about the program. If I had any, I would say. I am a very direct person. The TEFL Online Pro program was very good and I am fully satisfied with my new lifestyle.

  2. Hi Paul, Thank you for the mention. I meant to write in my review that I am currently living in Cambodia. My advice for someone coming to Cambodia to work remotely is to get the Ordinary (Business) visa at the airport. It’s possible to extend this visa for up to one year. If you just get the Tourist visa, it is only possible to extend it once for 30 days. I decided I wanted to stay in Siem Reap because there are a lot of home comforts here and there is a vibrant expat community, plus it’s very affordable to live here. My 2-bedroom apartment is only costing me (with all energy bills and internet) $500 US a month. I can easily earn that in one week with my online classes. I know that some countries are now offering special visas for remote workers so I will get in touch with TEFL Online Pro if there is something that I have a question about regarding that type of visa. And lastly, I don’t really recommend teaching for a school in Cambodia. The money isn’t that great, they make you wear business clothes to work, the hours are lousy, and I’ve heard and read about some schools not paying teachers their salaries on time. When you teach online, you avoid all of those hassles and you earn more money. I’m not saying that all schools in Cambodia are a rip off; just quite a lot of them are from what I hear from other teachers. I’ll be back in touch! Lauren.

    1. Hello Lauren,

      Thank you for your reply.

Yes, you are right, you can earn more money teaching English online in Cambodia than physically teaching at a school in Cambodia.
You are also correct that some Cambodian language schools do have a poor reputation.

There are diamonds in the rough though, and we are able to advise our graduates which schools are the best ones to teach or volunteer at.

Teaching in a classroom in Cambodia definitely has its pros and cons, as does teaching online.

What really matters is that you are a satisfied teacher because a satisfied teacher usually means satisfied students 🙂

Yes, please do feel free to get back in touch with us when you have any further questions regarding jobs and visas. We have someone in the tefl online pro team who knows all about specific visas for digital nomads.

In the meantime, Lauren, we hope that you continue having an amazing time in amazing Cambodia!
