Best Teaching Salary tefl online pro review, submitted by Cole.
Best Teaching Salary.
I got lucky. I got extremely lucky.
I took the TEFL Online Pro 120-hour TEFL/TESOL course way back in 2019 and since then I’ve mostly been teaching online to kids and adults in Japan. The money is great. The time difference not so great. I heard through the TEFL grapevine that good money can be made teaching at summer camps in Europe, so, and because they said I could contact them any time in the future, I sent off a question to Paul Murphy, asking if they had any openings for summer camp teaching work. Paul said he would look into it. After a week I had almost thrown in the towel and given up, but then Paul got back to me with an offer he said he had just heard about. Teaching for eight weeks at a summer camp in southern Bohemia, in the Czech Republic. He said I’d need to act quickly if I wanted to stand a chance of making it because the job offer was going to be circulated among all the big language schools in Europe.
How it is set up is that you turn up for an orientation day, then teach for five days, take the seventh day off, return for the next group’s orientation day, teach for five days, take the seventh day off, and repeat.
Paul is a star because he said that if I wanted to teach the full two months that the summer camp is operating for then he would be able to confirm this for me if I agreed.
I liked how there was no hard sell. Paul gave me a copy of the work contract, gave me a timetable of the daily activities and the number of students attending each weekly group, and insisted that I read through everything before making my final decision.
Accommodation is provided, and so are meals. And on top of that there is a weekly wage of 15,000 CZK (which is about $700 US). So for the two months, I’ll be having free lodging, free meals, and earning about $700 per week. And what really impressed me is that I’ll be paid after each week, so no worrying whether I’m actually going to be paid at the end of the two months.
Needless to say, I have accepted and I start on July 5th!
Paul even gave me access again to my TEFL Online Pro course, so I would have all that useful information to plan my classes ahead.
He also put me in touch with some teachers who taught at the camps last year and they only had positive things to say about it all. One of the teachers is teaching at a summer camp in France this summer, so I’m hoping I can teach in a different European country every summer.
Just a word of warning. You are only eligible to teach at this year’s summer camp if you have received both of the Covid vaccinations. You will also be expected to take a test before leaving your home country and expected to take a test when you arrive in the Czech Republic. The tests are not paid for by the summer camp organizers.
This is a dream job for me at the moment:
I get to teach in Europe. I get to teach face-to-face. I get to experience a new culture. And, this is the best teaching salary I have had so far when you account for the fact that I’ll only be teaching 5 hours per day and getting accommodation and food free.
