I just want to start this review by stating that the course and support were excellent. Everyone I communicated with was extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate my needs. The course is well-written and without the grammar and spelling mistakes that I’ve seen as being complaints of some of the other online TEFL programs reviewed on TTR. The MNT course has been specifically designed for people with plans to teach in either Central or South America, and they have a long history of placing teachers in those locations. The advent of Covid couldn’t have been something that MNT could have anticipated, but they did their best to accommodate me when it came to my teaching hours which make up a section of this Hybrid teaching English course. It was disappointing though that the course price remained the same, even though I only taught my classes online via Zoom and the school didn’t incur the costs of arranging a short-term placement in Costa Rica. I expected there to be a discount because I wasn’t receiving the full package, but I ended up paying the same whether I taught my practicum hours online or in Manuel Antonio. At the very least, they could have provided a discount or vouchers. Again, I know it wasn’t their fault that a pandemic came along during the time when I was preparing for a two-week stint in Costa Rica, but some form of compensation would have been a nice touch. In the end, I did enjoy my online teaching classes, but nothing can replace the in-person teaching environment.

In all fairness to Maximo Nivel TEFL, they have their company overheads and an event such as an international pandemic is technically defined as an ‘Act of God’.
Maximo Nivel TEFL is one of the highest-rated online TEFL/TESOL certification course programs and whilst some programs might have simply canceled your course outright without a refund, Maximo Nivel TEFL did find a solution and offered you comparable services.
I do understand your frustrations, and your concerns are completely valid, but nobody saw the pandemic coming and all companies have had to tweak their in-class teaching practice schedules to some degree.
And, you have all that in-person paid teaching to look forward to when you are ready to make your move to Latin America! 🙂
