Is Maximo Nivel Legit? I couldn’t afford to take an in-class TEFL course, so I took it online instead.
I did initially have my sights set on taking the TEFL course on location and the in-class program offered through the Maximo Nivel company was on my shortlist of candidates. I really wanted to take the course in Cusco (Peru) but I had student debt to pay off and eventually I came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t a viable option for me to pay for the airfare, the course fees, accommodation, and other living expenses. It just came out as costing way over the budget I had at the time.
As luck would have it though, I noticed that Maximo Nivel also ran an online program, so I signed up for that one instead. It was significantly lower in price doing it this way, rather than going the in-class route, and at the end of the course I received the TEFL certificate. So this is the option that I would recommend if you are considering TEFL and if you don’t have so much money to play around with.
As expected, the course was fully online. At first, I couldn’t understand how it could all be managed online. It was actually pretty straightforward. I had specific times when I would take my lessons with my (amazing) tutor and she guided me through the curriculum. I also got to teach a bunch of Zoom classes to online students too.
This online course was a way in which I could afford to get TEFL qualified and I recommend it to anyone who wants to take the certification in an affordable way.
