MyTEFL review, submitted by Tony.
It was much cheaper doing this course than taking an On-site one with observed teaching practice and which would have meant needing to study full-time. If you are thinking of taking a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course then I would definitely recommend taking it online. There were a few things MyTEFL promised but didn’t deliver on but all in all, I would say this is a pretty decent course and a pretty solid introduction to teaching English abroad.
For me, the most difficult part of the MyTEFL Professional 120-Hour Online TEFL certification course was wrapping my head around the grammar. They didn’t really teach us grammar at school and even though I obviously speak the language, I didn’t really have an understanding of how it functions. This course guides you through the different areas of grammar pretty well and now I can confidently say that I know the difference between Simple, Continuous, and Perfect grammar tense forms.
I do hope I’m going to be able to use the MyTEFL certificate later on in the year when I plan to go overseas to teach English abroad. MyTEFL does write on its website that they help with the process of finding teaching employment so that will definitely be an added bonus. I’ve got my mind set on teaching English in China, but I don’t have a university degree MyTEFL said there would be a way around this so again, more good news.

Hi there Tony.
I read your review of the MyTEFL program and I felt that I should respond to your note made about not needing a college degree to be able to teach English in China.
I think you must have misunderstood the information which you received from MyTEFL because a degree is definitely required in China and it is almost impossible to teach there without one.
I’m happy that you had a positive course experience and good luck with your TEFL career ahead!
