I was attempting to achieve my TEFL online due to being employed full-time. I did my research and it is clear that a TEFL earned online is just as good as one earned in a brick-and-mortar classroom. So this was the first green box ticked for me. The TEFL Academy program kept showing when I Google-searched for Online TEFL Courses, so I filled out the enrollment form, paid, and began the course. They are a company based out of Johannesburg in South Africa. It’s an English-speaking country and I felt comfortable proceeding. I must write that the course is well designed. It looks great and was easy to navigate. The course materials were nicely arranged too and they make sense as you proceed through each section. But I won’t be recommending the TEFL Academy to anyone. What drove me to that decision? Absolutely no instruction or engagement with the program professors/staff. They wouldn’t respond to emails and it was hopeless trying to get a hold of anyone on the phone. Why should I pay top dollar for a course where I am the student and teacher? There wasn’t any help with a job search either. Do yourself a favor and find another school for TEFL certification. Preferably one with a support structure so you can receive direction and help. There are a bevy of options.

I need to correct your review because the TEFL Academy has its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland and in Brighton, England.
It may claim to offer courses in other locations around the globe, but there is a lack of evidence that this is the case.
Some other TEFL programs also claim to offer localized TEFL courses in countries that they have zero footprints in.
This technique is applied to make them appear “international”.

The TEFL Academy is all smoke and mirrors. The program isn’t even accredited, but they feel it is OK to claim otherwise on their website. The qualification may open dodgy school doors with low-pay options, but if you want to be teaching in a great school choose a different program. And why should you even listen to me? I am a TEFL Academy graduate and I have lots of experience in trying to apply for teaching jobs at great schools with this crappy certificate that I have from the TEFL Academy. Choosing this program is one of my life regrets. William.
