I’m classed as a mature student because I’m in my early fifties and I kept getting turned for jobs in China and Japan. One of the promises TEFL Online Pro give their graduates is that they will go out of their way to help them secure a teaching job, so I took them up on their promise, and a couple of weeks later they got back to me with a few job options for teaching in Rio de Janeiro. Rio always seemed to me like a place that didn’t exist in reality, where beautiful people lounged on the beach during the day and partied hard at night – all the while consuming exotic food and drink, with samba music permeating every crevice of the idyllic beach location. Paul, from the TEFL Online Pro office, put me in touch with some of their teachers already established there and within a month I was on a plane destined for the place where I was to find my perfect niche in life. Not only did I start teaching. I also befriended some of the teachers I was given the contact form and they were nice enough to help out by renting a studio apartment for me. For the $299 I paid for the course, I can’t recommend this program enough. I’m getting married to a local Brazilian woman next year and it looks like I’m here to stay. The money isn’t great, but it’s definitely enough to live off comfortably. I’ve heard that after living here for a while you get better job offers, once the school(s) realize that they can depend on you and that you are here to stay long-term. I have absolutely no qualms recommending TEFL Online Pro for your TEFL certification and if you do get the chance, my advice would be to consider teaching in Brazil. The only negative point I’d like to make is that I’ve put on a few extra pounds in weight since arriving, but when the food is so good, it’s rude not to partake.
