I thought the online teacher training (TEFL India) course with INTESOL Worldwide lived up to most of my expectations in regard to what was advertised and what I received.
Just two areas of concern which I had were that the content of the course could have been delivered in a more user-friendly way (I couldn’t study on my iPhone or iPad) and I was expecting more in the way of job information for international teaching positions.
I was a little confused about where exactly INTESOL Worldwide operates. I think the school operates out of India (the UK also?) and they have franchises in other places around the world. All correspondences though were provided by native speakers (or non-natives with excellent English language skills) so this was a positive, and when I needed to contact the school they responded within a reasonable amount of time. Even if it took a few days to get an email back the response addressed my question(s).
On a further positive note, I thought the content of the course was very informative and it most definitely introduced me to new teaching ideas and concepts. I’ve taught before so I wasn’t a complete newbie going into the course. The course seems to favor the Communicative method too, which is my preferred way of teaching. And despite it taking me a bit of time to eventually locate a full-time job with a school, I did find work with this certification and this was one of the reasons why I took the course in the first place.
