TEFL University of Toronto online distance TESOL course feedback.

Don’t be fooled by the apparent association with the University of Toronto, This is a distance learning course and is not officially recognized by the university. If it were, you would be able to use the certification to teach English at Canadian institutes of education. You can’t. It’s a standard distance learning TEFL/TESOL certification course, that has decided its course price should come at a ridiculous price due to its alleged connection with the University of Toronto, Canada.

For some people, having a university emblem on their certificate might be worth the extortionate additional cost, but for us, it wasn’t. And we felt ripped off.

On a positive note, the staff is pleasant and helpful, and we both learned a lot on the course, which prepared us sufficiently for teaching English overseas.

Again though, this could easily have been achieved by purchasing a MUCH MORE reasonably priced online TEFL/TESOL distance learning course.

When we interviewed, it soon became apparent to us that employers haven’t even heard of this program. We got jobs anyway because the training was good, but I’m sure other programs also provide good training.

I won’t say avoid. But be wary, and shop around before you commit.
