I did an online TEFL course with Learn TEFL.
Should take me 120 hours. Took me SIX!
It’s similar to buying a ticket from a low-cost carrier in the States, only to discover it isn’t as “low-cost” as you thought it was.
You pay for the certificate. $99 isn’t cheap. There was an option to pay for tutor support. Thankfully I didn’t purchase it. They wanted money to help me find work. Again, I declined.
The certificate looks ok but it isn’t accredited, at least not by any reputable organization.
It would do if you only need a rubber stamp TEFL. But I doubt it has any amount of significant traction if wanting to teach at a serious school.
Guess there must be a percentage of people who buy into this type of program.
I did. Lured in by the promise of a cheap TEFL.
I’ll just take another course with a different company and keep the Learn TEFL certificate as an additional qualification on my resume.
