The international TEFL course with ITA Online TESOL was a very demanding, yet at the same time, highly motivating course. This is one of the 170-hour courses with a 20-hour teaching practicum. The course is provided through the Moodle app, which does take a while to get used to but when you do get used to it, it all makes immediate sense. While a lot of other online TESOL courses start any time in the year, this course has specific start dates. They run a course each month and they show all upcoming course dates on their website. How the 20 teaching practicum hours work is you find your students yourself and then ITA grades your lesson plans and student feedback. I was able to find students online, via chat sites in China. I didn’t charge my students for the English lessons, so that’s why it was probably so easy for me to manage my 20 teaching hours so quickly after finishing the 150 of the online study. I needed the difficulty of a course like this to get me motivated to start focusing on my future. For so long I was in a job I wasn’t happy working in and when a friend told me about TESOL teaching I jumped at the chance. When I can leave the country again, I’ll be traveling overseas to teach.
