I would have liked to score the online course offered through the i to i program more stars, but I felt their customer support didn’t live up to the high promises as described on their school website, so instead, they receive a rather generous 3 stars from me.
This school has its fingers in almost every corner of the TEFL world and its marketing machine is very aggressive. Lots of images of people my age jumping into swimming pools and gazing in awe at tropical beaches, etc. This isn’t so far from the truth of teaching abroad, but once I began the course I soon realized that the program is obviously huge and they just can’t feasibly apply great customer service for all of their customers.
I actually liked the course, despite it being taken 100% online, and I thought it covered everything I needed to get started in TEFL. This is why I chose to award i to i 3 stars.
Once you have made your course payment though, the feedback and support wane considerably. It’s not actually something I would have really been critical about had i to i not decided to make this aspect of their business one of their USPs on their school website.
I’m sure I will find work, but I now understand that it’s going to take an independent effort to join other graduates who apparently spend all their time jumping into swimming pools and gazing in awe at tropical beaches. And no, a list of schools received just didn’t do it for me.

Most of our marketing is designed to promote our TEFL Internships which are a good travel teaching ratio, compared to regular TEFL jobs. Our Internships involve big groups of teachers who can socialise together and support each other on a programme rather than doing it alone. It’s so easy to get a TEFL job overseas, so why would anyone in their right mind want to pay for the “privilege”. i-to-i TEFL are notorious for scamming their students.
