The TEFL Academy review, submitted by Simone.
The information on the TTA website answered most of my concerns and questions, but I wanted clarification of some things before I took the plunge and enrolled. I think they should redesign their website on the course description pages because it took me on a bit of a loop when all I wanted was clear information about each course offering. But someone got back to me, explained everything in detail, and I was satisfied enough with the answers so signed up. I did particularly appreciate the course design and the steady flow of jumping from one module to another. Maybe the videos could be updated because they are similar to training videos from the 90s. On the other hand, everything relevant was in the videos so I’m guessing this is an industry-wide standard.
My certificate looks great. It was an extra cost I hadn’t really budgeted for, but on the other hand I didn’t mind paying for such a professional looking certificate either. I interviewed for Preply about a month later and I got the job. Why Preply? It seems they pay well and the interview went really well also. I sort of clicked with them and accepted the job offer on the spot. I teach mainly adults, with just two youth classes, and I’m content with this arrangement for the foreseeable future.
It did make me feel a bit sad to see so many poor reviews for TTA when I had a very good course with them. I wish them good luck for the future.
