I liked the course. It was arranged well and it wasn’t as difficult as I first thought it was going to be. You don’t get any hands-on teaching experience with the course but I knew this going in because it is a virtual learning study program. tbh, I don’t think the teaching practicum is so essential anyway because you quickly pick up teaching skills when you begin teaching. That’s what I found to be true. What the course does do is explain how and what to teach. there are also many examples given of lesson plans and games which I have been using with my online students since I completed the course and began teaching online. The only real thing missing from this course is quality tutor feedback. Sometimes I would get an answer back from my tutor and sometimes I wouldn’t. It was hit or miss, depending on who was available at the time. I didn’t depend on tutor feedback that much though so for me this wasn’t a big issue. It wasn’t difficult landing a job. I applied to a bunch of language schools online and heard back from the ones that had vacancies. Just bear in mind that you will need to be proactive in your job search. If you just send your resume to a school and that’s it then I think you will have a hard time finding work. I emailed my resume to schools and sent them an email after a few days, and a few more days after that, and that seemed to be a good way of grabbing their attention. Teaching online is the best choice I’ve made recently and I will be staying with it even when I am traveling Asia later in the year. It’s the perfect way to earn money when you are on the go. Just organize your students into a tight schedule for yourself (if time zones permit this) and you should be able to work and have a lot of free time for yourself. Teaching online is the right choice.
