OISE University of Toronto TEFL/Teach Away.
I primarily chose this TEFL certification course over others because I’m a Torontonian and I wanted to support a TEFL company in my local area.

I think I should begin my review with the caveat that I did receive some financial aid in order to be able to afford to purchase a course of this caliber. If I hadn’t, I likely would have chosen a cheaper alternative because in my mind the course fee is on the high end of the spectrum.
Saying that, though, if you do have the money, I think this TEFL certification course is one of the best options for anyone wanting to break into the teaching English career industry.
I can sum it up in one sentence: Very well structured TEFL course and one rich in resources.
I began the course with literally no previous teaching experience and my grammar was pretty rusty too. I remembered the grammar basics from school, but had no idea about the other complexities of the subject prior to taking this course.
The program starts off basic and progressively becomes more detailed, and this is achieved through a gradual ramping up of the difficulty level. I must admit that without the help of my virtual tutor, I would have found passing the course to be a very difficult task. However, the support I received was top-notch.
There are sections of the course where the information that you are expected to absorb feels overwhelming at times, but this is softened by the help from the tutor and with the way the materials are presented. Expect lots of fun games and activities with this course; games and activities that you can then add to your personal teachers library for your classes in future when you begin teaching.
Having passed the course with a respectable grade, I can now honestly say that I understand more or less everything that was taught on the course. Not that I consider myself an expert by any stretch of the imagination. But it gave me everything I need to feel confident enough to pursue a career in teaching English.
I’ve seen the courses that go for $50 and the ones that go for even less, and I would say that those cheap TEFL courses will just be an entire waste of money. My course definitely wasn’t a walk in the park and this type of intense TEFL course is what you’ll need if you want to come out the other end with proper TEFL training.
I have absolutely no qualms in giving this program the maximum 5 stars.
