OISE University of Toronto TEFL review, submitted by Susan.
If you are looking for a TEFL certification course that’s reputable and will enable worldwide employability, the University of Toronto TEFL is a good fit. The course is jam-packed with useful/practical tips on how to approach teaching English as a second language, to a whole wide range of different student levels and learner contexts. Before I took this course, I had very little idea of the different student learner levels – let alone what should be taught at each level and how it should be taught. This course definitely guides you through what could be a prohibitively complicated course, by simplifying the content in an easy-to-understand and user-friendly format. If I were to go back in time and take the course again, I would 100% definitely do some course prep by properly familiarizing myself with some grammar basics, such as grammar terms and grammar systems. Some of it you will know before, but there will be a lot that you will be covering for the first time. I had a particularly difficult time when it came to planning a class on time tenses. I got there in the end, but reading up on the subject prior to starting the course would have been a big help for me. Also, don’t worry so much about learning all the new information when on the course. A very helpful member of the UoT office staff explained to me that I would retain the information as I got more and more teaching experience under my belt. I don’t have anything negative to write about my University of Toronto TEFL course experience. It was all good.
