Warning! The TEFL in Cebu Philippines scam

If you have just stumbled across this blog post, then we advice reading the other scam warnings in the Online TEFL Course Scams section on trustedteflreviews.com.

To simplify matters, if you have only stumbled across this post and don’t have the time or inclination to read other posts, an Online TEFL course provider contacted us to ask whether we could delete a few negative, verified customer reviews of their program, and we said that no, we wouldn’t be doing that.

About a week later the online attacks and defamatory remarks began and so our hand was forced to defend ourselves – we have nothing to hide so are willing to write factual content in response to these concerted efforts from, specifically at this point, MyTEFL.com.

And then things got a bit weirder. We began receiving a lot of traffic from the Philippines, together with some quite outrageous comments, such as:

We needed to edit this person’s username, in order to be able to publish the comment.

My response was:

We knew the comments were originating in the Philippines, because we were able to check the IP addresses.

And today, we realized the MyTEFL and ITTT TEFL connection with the Philippines, Cebu.

I’m now going to show you three screenshots, and you are welcome to work out, for yourselves, the inconsistencies between what is advertised, and what is actually delivered.

In the first two screenshots, for example, it appears that the reviews listed on the MyTEFL and ITT International TEFL and TESOL websites (the ITT International TEFL and TESOL website was suspiciously offline this morning when we checked) have been copied almost verbatim.

Either Jared and Ada are serial international TEFL course students, or the only other rational explanation for the identical reviews, published on two different websites, in cahoots with each other, means that they are fake reviews, concocted for marketing purposes

21st February, 2020: Please note that within a day of the publication of this Trusted TEFL Reviews post, ITT International TEFL and TESOL took down their website and now operate, with the same (MyTEFL.com) people behind the operation: https://internationaltefltesol.com/

This isn’t a scam per se, but it is incredibly misleading for the people who pay a fee to either MyTEFL or ITTT TEFL – assuming they will be trained up by one of these companies in Cebu – only to arrive and find out that the initial US$600 deposit recruitment fee they paid went straight into the pockets of MyTEFL, Footprints Recruiting, or ITTT TEFL. And that MyTEFL, Footprints Recruiting and ITTT TEFL do not operate a TEFL certification school in Cebu.

But hey, it’s business! Right?

Well, yes, it is. But, 1). You never need to pay money to anyone to find you a job, 2). Once you have paid you really have only MyTEFL or ITTT TEFL’s word on how “amazing” your teaching English abroad experience will be, and 3). Why the complete lack of transparency?

On ITTT TEFL’s ‘Get TEFL Certified in the Philippines‘ website page, there is absolutely no mention of a third party. They even state that they (ITTT International TEFL and TESOL Training) run the course themselves.

As of today, 19th February 2020, their page looks like this:

The scam occurs when both of these courses (MyTEFL and ITTT TEFL) claim that their ‘ottsa’ accreditation is legit.

https://trustedteflreviews.com/2020/02/13/needless-to-say-i-shall-be-contacting-my-credit-card-company-for-a-full-refund-on-the-mytefl-purchase/

The second scam occurs when someone, who has paid the recruitment deposit, travels halfway round the world only to find that there is no course (or even school) there for her TEFL training to take place.

Our best advice at trustedteflreviews.com is NEVER pay a recruitment agency. And research which Online TEFL course programs are considered the most, and least reputable:

Try choosing an Online TEFL program that provides complimentary international job guidance support, because that way you’ll gain your international TEFL and have a knowledgeable hand to guide you through to the reputable language schools.

The schools mentioned in this article in relation to shady Cebu TEFL training practices are: MyTEFL, ITTT TEFL, ITT International TEFL and TESOL, TESOL Training International Online.

And: ITT International TEFL and TESOL

(It’s suddenly their newly designed school website 😀

Within the past hour, Trusted TEFL Reviews has received two emails from ITT International TEFL and TESOL. These emails – for once not written anonymously, and neither calling me a “dike” – appear, on face value to be a a step in the right direction. But they are actually threats. Threats against Trusted TEFL Reviews.

By reading the full extent of this article, you will again see that (ITT) are deep in the pockets of the other main player Online TEFL companies in Cebu City, and that these main players are willing to go online to spread false statements about Trusted TEFL Reviews in an attempt at trying to decrease our website’s trustworthiness, by attempting to deflect important to their verified customer reviews.

Dear ITT International TEFL and TESOL. As soon as this article was posted and the photographic evidence of your relationship with MyTEFL was posted (above) you then quickly developed a new website and deleted the previous URL of ITT International TEFL and TESOL. And yet again, I read a conspiracy mention of tefl online pro because obviously if they are the highest rated Online TEFL program on Trusted TEFL Reviews then they logically must own this independently-run reviews website.

Sorry, but we don’t know you, we don’t want to get to know you, we don’t believe you, and we won’t be victims of email threats.

We are here to provide verified customer reviews of Online TEFL certification course programs.

If Online TEFL programs are ranked highly on trustedteflreviews.com then it means that they are doing something right. If Online TEFL programs are ranked poorly on trustedteflreviews.com then it means that they are providing subpar services and product to their customers.

Instead of threatening us with online attacks and defamation, we advise that you focus on improving the services and products that you provide to your customers.

We welcome any comments in the reply section below.

If and when we are notified of shady practices, or even outright scams, we will post details of them in the Online TEFL Course Scams section of this website.

WARNING! We strongly recommend that readers are made fully aware of this following article that looks at a seemingly valid and respected accreditation organization – marketed by all 4 of the online TEFL courses mentioned within this article, but which is actually fake. i.e., a scam.
